Shipping documents count packages in CTNS (cartons), PLTS (pallets), or PKGS (packages). The number of cartons on the B/L must match the packing list and the physical count at the CFS.

Watch out

CTN also means Cargo Tracking Note, a mandatory pre-shipment document for many West African ports. If a shipment is bound for Nigeria, Cameroon, or Guinea, ask which CTN is meant.
