International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15

The rule that wooden packaging used in international shipping must be treated and stamped to stop pests spreading.

In practice

Pallets, crates, and dunnage must be heat-treated (HT) or fumigated and carry the IPPC stamp. Untreated wood packaging is rejected or destroyed at many ports, including Australia, the US, and the EU.

Seen in the wild

All pallets must be ISPM 15 heat-treated for the Australian shipment.
