In practice
Not always the final destination. If the cargo continues inland by rail or truck under the carrier's B/L, the final point is the FPOD or place of delivery. Destination charges are usually calculated at the POD.

POD also means Proof of Delivery in trucking and courier work. Check the context: on a B/L it is always Port of Discharge.
