Seal
Container types & equipmentContainer seal
A numbered tamper-evident lock fitted on the container doors after stuffing.
In practice
The seal number goes on the B/L and permit. Customs and consignees check the seal on arrival; a broken or mismatched seal triggers an inspection or a claim. High-security bolt seals meeting ISO 17712 are required on most trades.
